Passage/s est un livre dédié à l'artiste coréen Do Ho Suh, dont les créations ne cesse d'éblouir aux quatre coins de la planète. Edité et dirigé par Céline Fribourg des Editions Take5, ce livre nous invite à découvrir le travail de l'artiste d'une manière peu conventionnelle.
Do Ho Suh conçoit des installations de grande échelle, en tissu translucide, représentant ses anciennes habitations en enfilade dans lesquelles les visiteurs peuvent déambuler. Les notions de mémoire et nomadisme sont essentielles dans son travail.
Passage/s is a book dedicated to the Korean artist Do Ho Suh whose creations continue to dazzle the world. Edited and directed by Céline Fribourg of Editions Take5 this book invites us to discover the artist's work in an unconventional way. Do Ho Suh designs large-scale installations in translucent fabric. He represents his former dwellings in a sequence through which visitors can wander. The notions of memory and nomadism are essential in his work.

Un livre hors du commun
Véritable objet de collection, le livre se présente sous la forme d'une boîte. renfermant une série de films transparents. Ils représentent les hubs pensés par l’artiste dans l'une de ses œuvres. Ces films se déploient tel un accordéon. A l'arrière, un éclairage led vient envelopper la scène dans une ambiance intime et accentue ainsi la perspective déployée.
An unusual book
The book, a true collector's item, is made in the form of a box containing a series of transparent films. They represent the Hubs conceived by the artist in one of his work. These films unfold like an accordion. LED lighting at the back creates an intimate atmosphere and accentuates the perspective.

Glissées à l’arrière de cet accordéon lumineux, deux brochures nous invitent à nous plonger dans les thèmes chers à Do Ho Suh qui sont le déracinement, le nomadisme, la mutation et le rapport au temps. Tant de questions développées dans un texte écrit par Louis Philippe Dalembert.

Slipped into the back of this luminous accordion, two booklets invite us to immerse ourselves in the themes so dear to Do Ho Suh: uprootedness, nomadism, mutation and the relationship with time. So many questions, addressed in a text written by Louis Philippe Dalembert.

Iter
En écho au texte de Louis-Philippe Dalembert, le graphisme des brochures souligne les idées phares de la pensée de l’artiste. Entre souvenir du passé et évolution d’un être au travers de sa forme et de son positionnement dans son environnement.
Pour ce projet, nous avons créé une typographie qui évolue au fil des pages. «Iter» est bousculée, métamorphosée par le temps qui passe. Elle ne sera plus la même qu’elle a été par le passé, mais ainsi, elle s’enrichit. De la couverture au colophon.
Iter
The graphic design of the booklets echoes Louis-Philippe Dalembert's text, underlining the key ideas of the artist's thought processes. Between the memory of the past and the development of a being through its form and its position in its environment.

En mutation
Tels des événements qui ponctuent une vie, la mise en page se voit elle aussi bousculée par des notes informatives habituellement placées au bas des pages. Dans ces brochures en deux langues, les notes se positionnent à proximité des mots qui y font référence, empêchant ainsi les textes suivants de se placer à ces endroits. De cette façon, ils symbolisent les événements d’une vie à la manière de virgules. Nous mettons en lumière l’enrichissement que ceux-ci provoque chez chacun.
Undergoing change
Like the events that punctuate a life, the layout is also disrupted by the informative notes usually placed at the bottom of the page. In these bilingual booklets, the notes are positioned close to the words that refer to them, thus preventing subsequent texts from being placed there. In this way, they symbolise the events that occur in a life in the manner of commas. We are highlighting the enrichment they bring to everyone.
